WELCOME TO SWEDEN IN 2011!
First of all the Swedish Local Organizing Committee wants to thank the transplant community for the confidence in Sweden, arranging the 2011 World Transplant Games. Its great fun but we also recognize the responsibility in making the 2011 Games a great window for promoting organ donation and a great meeting place for our guests from all around the world.
The city of Göteborg is delighted to host the Games and welcomes all participants from all over the world with open arms. You will find a city close to the sea and with a very strong maritime connection. The people of Göteborg are very friendly and it is not unusual to find yourself talking to a complete stranger on the tram or at the pub. We know that you will make a lot of new friends here.
Most of the sporting events will be held within walking distance from the hotels and the Games Centre. A few events will be held in areas easily accessible by a short tram ride. This will probably make the 2011 World Transplant Games the most environmentally friendly games ever. We are very proud of this.
The long journey towards the WTG 2011 in Göteborg has begun, and we are working hard in the spirit of making the 2011 Games the best games ever.
