Slottsskogsvallen
Slottsskogsvallen was built in 1923. It is a very famous arena for track and field. Lots of world records have been set here and many international and national events have been taken place here. The arena is pleasantly narrow and the very short distance between spectators and athletes always create a great atmosphere for the spectators as well as the athletes. Slottsskogsvallen is the home pitch for Kopparbergs/Göteborgs FC ladies football team and hosts the international athletic competition Folksam Grand Prix in August every year. Slottsskogsvallen is also used for many school activities and big concerts. In the main building at Slottsskogsvallen there are locker rooms, reception, other training facilities and a small restaurant where you can have a cup of coffee while watching the track and field events or the petanque. Just across the street of this arena there is a big park called Slottskogen where the plan is to arrange cycling, race walk and road race. Slottsskogsvallen can also provide high speed wireless Internet access.
Ullevi Tennis Court
Ullevi Tennis Court is situated just about 500 meters away from the Games Village and City Centre. Ullevi tennis club can host matches on 6 indoor and 3 outdoor clay courts. The club was this year’s Swedish team-champion and is very used to arrange big competitions for example Swedish national competitions. Beside the tennis court Ullevi tennis club has its own clubhouse with locker rooms, gym, café, reception, club shop and conference facilities with high speed wireless Internet access.
Valhalla Sport Arena
Valhalla Sport Arena will be the Games sport centre. In Valhalla Sport Arena we will arrange badminton, Floorball, swimming, table tennis and volleyball. There are three full-size halls that can include both competition and training in all indoor sports except squash. The main hall has a seat capacity for 500 spectators. Every day during the week there will be one sport in focus in the main hall. In the main hall you can watch competition in Floorball (Sunday), badminton (Tuesday-Wednesday), volleyball (Thursday) and table tennis (Friday).
For more specific information about competition and practice during the week see the games schedule. One floor down you will find the newly renovated (year 2009) bowling centre with 20 international standard lanes, restaurant and seating area, these lanes might be relevant in case of many participants in the 10 pin bowling event. In Valhalla Sport Arena you can also watch the swimming competition in a 25 meter pool that has hosted many national and international events. For practice, relaxation and warming up we will also use the 25 meter pool. In Valhalla Sports Arena you will also find other facilities like locker room with sauna, relaxation rooms and digital information on flat screens, to address for example time tables.
If you don´t want to relax you can have cup of coffee in the small restaurant or join a training session at the gym – SATS sports club. If you have any questions you can visit Games Office or use the high speed Internet connections in the whole building. Here we will also have a VIP room for the WTGF delegates.
Strike & Co Bowling
The Bowling events will take place at Strike & Co. There are 27 international standard lanes which are maintained every day to assure the best conditions. There are currenty 8 national bowlingclubs using the lanes for competing during the week and weekends. I case of many participants in the 10 pin bowling we can supply an additional 20 lanes in the Valhalla Sport Arena if nessesary.
Landala Squash Centre
Landala Squash Centre has eight first class courses, saunas and Jacuzzi. The squash centre is located just 5 minutes away with tram from Valhalla Sport Arena and another 5 minutes walk from tram station. The arena is home ground of the Team Göteborg Squash wich is one of the most successful Squash clubs in Sweden and represented in the top division of the Swedish national squash league.
Hills Golf & Country Club
Hills Golf & Country Club will host the golf competitions. It´s one of Swedens top five golf courses, located just in the southern part of Göteborg, 10 minutes away by car from the games hotels and Valhalla Sports Arena. Hills Golf Club was prospected in 2000 and opened in August 2005 and is a championship course. The seven individual tee selections offer distances beginning just above 4.100 meters to over 7.000 meters in length. From the back tee this 18-hole golf course will be noted as one of the longest courses close to sea level. All these alternatives give us the possibility to host a very well suited golf competition for transplanted athletes. At the clubhouse you can a have your lunch between your first 9-hole and your second 9-hole at same time when your teammates from all over the world struggle with their next shot. The Hills Golf Club can also offer you a wide selection of golf equipment in the official club shop. For team managers, media and WTGF delegates you will of course have high speed wireless Internet access and conference facilities. The Hills golf club can provide easy access to your next shot (as long as stay on the course) and to the next tee with new constructed ways to connect all holes. The club will also provide a golf cart.
Exercishuset & Heden
Exercishuset and Heden is an open sports field in the middle of Göteborg. Just outside Heden we will use Exercishuset for the Games Village. The Games Village can, for example, include small photo- and souvenir shops, post office, media centre and information centre for the athletes and accompanying persons. Exercis huset has high speed wireless Internet access for mobile computers. Games Village is just around the corner from the City centre "Avenyn" with shopping centers and restaurants and just 200 meters from Valhalla Sport Arena.
