Volleyball

Location

The Volleyball Tournament will be held in Valhalla Sports Centre in 3 different halls.

Rules

1 (one) team from each country. National teams are comprised of a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 12 players at least one of whom must be a woman.

Each volleyball team is allowed 6 (six) players on the court. Centers, with distinctive dress, may be in the team.

Each Volleyball team has to have at least one female team member on the court at all times during the match.

 

A country MAY HAVE 2 teams if the total amount of competitors in a country’s team consists of 40 or more registered competitors.

 

First round is played in the “Round Robin” format with 3 (three) teams in each group. The matches in the first round is played in 2 (two) sets, first to 25 points with a 2 (two) points separation, but first to 27. I.e. 25-23 or 27-25 OR 27-26. Ties between teams are broken by considering the scores of the sets.

The team with the best ratio of points scored divided by points lost is the winner. The winners of the first round group matches go on to play the final series.

The finals are played best of 3 sets first to 25 points with the same points separation as in the first round.

 

IF time permits, matches for positions will be played.

 

The Volleyball competition of the 2011 WTG will be played by the rules set by The International Volleyball Federation. www.fivb.ch

Ranking is based on the last two previous results from WTG, Thailand 2007 & Australia 2009
