Sweden welcomes you!

Sweden is the extraordinary county in the North that has so much to offer, all year around, whatever your interests and preferences. Sweden has magnificent countryside, from the forests, streams and dramatic mountain expanses of the north to the wide open plains, rolling hills and white beaches of the south.

Sweden has a pound cultural history; from the country’s time as a superpower in17th century Europe and the remarkably rapid development over the past century from poor agricultural nation to one of the world’s most modern and sophisticated societies.

Sweden has dynamic cities brimming with contemporary urban culture and creativity. Sweden has a unique quality of life in things great and small, and a magic all it’s own – a secret known to everyone who has visited the country. Most of all Sweden has Swedes – and we are waiting to welcome you.

When registering to the World Transplant Games 2011 you will meet a menu of suggestions for your visit to Sweden. You will get different packages for the extra stay before or after the Games.

Space for Minds Sweden stretches over 1,500 km from the north to the south and the contrasts between the various parts of the country are dramatic. The seasonal changes are striking with a warm, light and pleasant summer, a colorful autumn and a snowy winter followed by a bright, refreshing and vivid spring. Sweden offers a rich selection of activities in areas such as nature, culture, sports, design, food and shopping.

Swedish cultural policy has been successful in spreading culture to a wide population, with a well developed infrastructure of museums, libraries, theatres, cinemas and other cultural institutions across the country. The past decade in particular has seen the extensive internationalization of Swedish cultural life, especially in popular culture, with Swedish artists, actors and fashion designers attracting worldwide attention in fields such as music, literature, art, design, fashion and media.

Sweden also offers a large and varied selection of interesting restaurants, not just in the major cities but throughout the country, where people interested in gastronomy can enjoy Swedish quality ingredients prepared and served in a modern and innovative way.

A World heritage site is a place, site, environment, or object which provides unique testimony to the history of the earth and of mankind. Thirteen Swedish sites are inscribed on the prestigious World Heritage List and are guaranteed protection and care for all time.
