On the 19th of Februari WTG2011 and Astellas Pharma agreed on that Astellas will be one of two presenting partners for the 2011 World Transplant Games in Göteborg, Sweden.
- We are very happy about the agreement with one of the leading, global, medical companies in the world when it comes to transplant medication, says Anders Olsson, chair for the WTG2011.
The agreement includes both Astellas Pharma Inc. and Astellas Pharma Europe. Astellas will engage in two major areas. They will be hosting the official web-TV channel and also take part in the "Donor Recognition Program". Astellas will also support the research part of the 2011 World Transplant Games.

The games are important and the LOC has also shown that the games will be handled in a most professional way, says Marie Sverkersdotter, Head of Marketing for Astellas Pharma in Scandinavia.
Astellas Pharma Inc. is the second biggest medical company in Japan and 15th on a global scale. The total sales in 2005 was approximately 7,3 billion $ US. Astellas also holds a strong position in Europe with 19 sales and marketing offices and two big research ans development fascilities. Astellas Pharma Inc. is the result of a merger of Fujisawa and Yamanouchi some years ago.
Astellas Pharmas possibilites in research and development are very good. The budget is approximately 1,3 billion $ US. Thanks to the high capacity in research and development, Astellas is in the frontline when it comes to new and more effective medicines in their key areas.
Astellas Pharmas focus on three main branches; Urology, Dermatology and Transplantation. Astellas Europe works hard in exploring the posibillities and develop new products within these three key areas.
